Regional and State Employment and Unemployment January 2012

This section provides comparison data year over year as well as employees on nonfarm payrolls by state and selected industry sector.  Sectors included are as follows:  trade transportation and utilities, financial activities, professional and business services, education and health services, leisure and hospitality, construction, manufacturing and mining.  With regards to leisure and hospitality, there were more than 214,000 employed in South Carolina during January 2012.  The amount remained virtually unchanged when comparing January 2012 to January 2011.
